Three things to keep in mind:
1. This is a 1940's era apron (more pictures here and here) and so it should have a popular 40s era name
EDITED to add: It is also nearly indentical to a vintage 30's apron pattern, so popular 30's names are welcome too!
2. Leave your name idea in a comment and comment as much as you want with ideas
3. If the name that you picked is randomly chosen, you will receive a free pattern of the apron you named! (ie, if they end up getting produced!)
1940's Doily Chores Apron
ReplyDeletePerhaps you could name it after a popular girl's name from the era like - Mary, Martha, Brenda, or Linda...
ReplyDeleteMaybe something like the Lacy Lavender Linda Apron... :) - maybe that's too many adjectives - how about the Lavender Linda Apron? :)

How about Eleanor's Apron....wasn't Eleanor Roosevelt the 1st lady in the 40's?? Beautiful, by the way!!!!
ReplyDeleteEthel, perhaps? My grandmother was in early teens then and she is called Ethel.
ReplyDeleteI think either the "Eileen Apron" or the "Rosemary Apron"... :-)

Cecilia (lol)
ReplyDeleteNot very creative...
Violet (Anna)
You could call it the Victory Apron. Or the Home Front Apron. What ever you call it, I think you did a great job.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a "Sophie" or "Edna" apron to me. =)
ReplyDeleteHe he, I was going to say Eleanor, but not for Eleanor Rosevelt, but for my Great Grandmother who married in the early 1940's......so...I shall say, Evelyn, my G-Grandma's sister's name.
ReplyDeleteI just found this site http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/decades/names1930s.html
ReplyDeleteand thought it was interesting. The name that popped off the list there for me was Evelyn. :)
How about Rita, Vivien, or Ruby?
ReplyDeleteMaureen, Elsie, Helen?
Carole, Genevieve, Betty?
So that's just a few 30s and 40s sounding names. Adorable apron, by the way!

How about Olivia Walton.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother was born around then and her name is Iris Joann. It reminds me so much of her :)

I love this apron! The first time I saw it I thought it looked so graceful and elegant. Grace was a popular name in the 40s and I thought that it would fit the apron very nicely.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you name it. I think it's sometimes harder to find a name than make the actually thing. :-)

Nothing to add, really, but I like Ethel and Grace too! :) My great-grandma was married in the 40's, and her name was Daisy. How 'bout The Dear Daisy Apron? :) I really like Ethel though. . .
ReplyDeleteI was going to say Martha Rose. = )

ReplyDeleteI have no idea if this name is from the 40s but I really like it( pronounced l-ee-s) I have no idea if I spelled it right;)
~Bethany
Dorothy and Judy (or Judith) were popular names then. Other suggestions from around that era are Lillian, Nancy, Barbara, Joan, Peggy, Jean, and Paula.
ReplyDeleteI have never commented here before, but I "see" you fairly often on the S&S board! (I am MissAnnaPringle.)
