1914 Afternoon Dress

My heirloom dress from Sense & Sensibility patterns is finally finished! Well, all except for the silk sash that I need to make to complete it. (Should I do yellow or purple?) =) The front bodice is hanging from the weight of the skirt and built-in-petticoat, but in real life, the front sort of "poufs" out.
The sleeves have embroidery and lace inserted in between the fabric:

The back has the lace, and it buttons in the back:

And the skirt has 6 rows of pintucks:

That is simply lovely! So dressy and feminine!!! I love it! It sure looks like it took quite a bit of time! Will you sell it on e-bay?

That is just beautiful! Great work. Can you make two sashes? Or do they sew in place? I think it would be neat to intechange between yellow and purple..depending on your mood:-)

Lots of love,
Sommer

Thanks ladies! =)

Rachel, I'd be happy to take a picture of myself all dressed up in my boots and straw boater hat, but I'm afraid it might have to wait a few weeks. I made the unfortunate mistake of making the waistband a bit smaller than what mine is right now. =P I can wear it, but I doubt that I could button the one at the waist. =P =)

Andrea, this one will be "a keeper." =) I'm not sure what I'll wear it for, (a honeymoon nightgown maybe?) but this dress took me so much time that I can't part with it.

Sommer, what a terrific idea of making two sashes!!! =) From what I saw on the pattern, I don't think that they are sewn onto the dress.

Your dress is so beautiful and feminine! I just love all the details of lace, tucks, and embroidery. My friend's mother recently made her one of these dresses and the sash was not sewn on to the dress, so making interchangeable sashes is a great idea.

Please tell me that you were joking about wearing it as a nightgown. That dress is far to beautiful to keep hidden by wearing it only at night. Although I believe our husbands deserve to see us at our best, that doesn't mean others can't as well.
As for the sash, I think it should be a soft color so it doesn't detract from the lovely lace work and embroidery.
It is truly a work of art and I know you'll be stunning in it. :-)
