Giveaway Winner!

Considering that it has been years since I've had a giveaway and over that time my blog has been somewhat silent at times, having 46 entries was a good number to have!

Rafflecopter provides a handy button that says "Pick the winner" and it uses Random.org to choose it. Just moments ago I pushed that button and up came:

Alicia of cookinganne@...........

Congrats to Alicia! You should have an email in your inbox by now asking for your mailing address.

As for the rest of the ladies to entered: thankyou so much for your thoughtful and kind comments! My sincere apologies that you did not win, but as a little "thankyou" for entering, I have a coupon code for the shop of 15% off your purchase through Saturday. Use the code 15SALE.

GIVEAWAY: a summer kitchen collection!!

In celebration of a wonderful vacation and the goodness of coming home, I'm excited about hosting a giveaway! It has been far to long since I last had one, so I'm throwing in a couple extra goodies besides the apron.

A lovely half apron made out of an upcycled Laura Ashley sheet and pinstripe white cotton.

A charming notepad and a brand new tin of one of my favorite teas!

With all these, you'll be set this summer! I'm trying out rafflecopter for the first time, so let's hope it works. :)

Me? Win?

This summer I happened upon a blog called "Dressed Her Days Vintage."

It was a charming read of vintage dressing and styling, (a recent post was on cranberry red lipstick - imagine the fun!) and the owner of this lovely blog had a giveaway in the works of four patterns she was willing to part with. All one had to do was pick a favorite and tell her so (and probably subscribe to her blog, but who wouldn't want to?!).

I spotted a gorgeous evening wear dress pattern from 1936. The 30s fashions intrigue me with their cuts, their pleats, their collars, and the overall distinguished feminine appearance.

So I entered. Just like the scores of giveaways I've entered in before with knowing that I was probably wasting my time. In fact, in the last year or two I've completely given up on entering giveaways all together!

I actually forgot about it, until a couple days before leaving for college. I visited her blog to see who the winners were, trying to not be envious of the winner who wanted the 1936 dress pattern as much as I did. Scrolling down to see the usual unfamiliar names listed, my eyes got big. Really big.

Cheri, of ajoyfulhandmaiden.blogspot.com, 1936 dress pattern

Surely there was a mistake. Someone else has a similar blog name to mine. But if there was a similar blog to mine, they surely couldn't own my name and my not-so-widely-used spelling of it! It had to be!

Within minutes I received a personal e-mail saying that I had indeed won the pattern. I was and still am completely delighted since I've never won any giveaway in my life before. :) With being in college now, the making of a dress will have to wait until December. But that should give me enough time to decide what fabric to use. Any ideas?

A giveaway every seamstress should enter!

Take a look at this giveaway that a lady is hosting! It is a gift certificate for $100 towards marie-madeline studio! Imagine being able to spend that much money on patterns and fabric. T'would be like a little slice of heaven, I think! =)

Winner of the Marci Apron!

Using the free and handy random number website, I am here to announce that the winner is:

R u t h A n n!

Many congrats to you, and if you could please send me your address, I'll ship it off to you today when I make a run to the PO.

And to the rest of the poor unfortunate souls out there, I generally have giveaways a couple times a year, so add the blog to your favorites, or check back every now and then. But until then, may I direct your attention to a whole hoard of stuff in my online shop? These things are starting to collect dust due to the lack of use, and before I announce it to a whole sewing forum of ladies, I wanted to share the goodies with my blog readers first!

So check it out to your heart's content!

I nearly forgot!

Oh horrors! was my reply when I realized that the drawing for my apron giveaway didn't take place this afternoon! I seriously have been on the go, non stop, these days. My apologies if you've been checking dozens of times to find out who was the winner.

Thanks to the random number generator, it picks a random number without me having to "draw out of a hat" or be tempted to choose a winner (in that was the case, everyone would win!).

So without further ado: Ada Grace is the winner! If you want to e-mail me with your address Ada, I'll get is shipped out to you.

Apron Giveaway

Several weeks ago I was going through one of my fabric bins and came across a lovely left over piece of fabric (from a Regency dress, I think) and thought it would be great apron material!

It has a pretty little pocket with come crocheted lace trim...

It has LONG ties, so it is pretty much a one-size-fits-all...
And I thought it would be a perfect apron for the shop until, after I completed it, and was just "pressing it off" as Grandma would say it, I sadly noticed two things:

a pin sized hole,

and a smudge of dirt. Don't ask me how they got there, as I store all of my fabric carefully and well. So since there is no way I'd have a free conscience about selling it, I thought it would be great for a giveway!

All you have to do to enter, is leave a comment with your name (first name and last initial, please).

You can be entered twice, by posting a link over to this post from your blog, and then leave a second comment (please be sure to leave your blog address too)!

I will randomly choose a winner by Friday noon (CST), and will post the winner shortly thereafter.

And the winner is...

...Andrea Herrlinger! Congrats to Andrea, whose apron will be shipped off this afternoon!

And I'm convinced that I need to have giveaways more often. It's so much fun "meeting" new or "silent" blog readers! =) I feel honored that you'd stop by my blog.

And since you all were so kind an gracious, I will offer to all of you a $5 discount off of anything in my etsy shop, through tomorrow. Just contact me through a conversation on etsy and let me know which item(s) you'd like and also mention this special offer to blog readers!

Giveaway: a Rosebud Gracie apron

I wasn't planning on doing a giveaway for this apron. It was a very gently used sheet from Laura Ashley that I bought, and unfortunately, there is some discoloration towards the top of the apron, and a few light smudges on a very small area in the flounce.

The fabric is 50% combed cotton and 50% polyester, which makes this apron incredibly soft. So combine the used sheet with its softness, and someone (or you!) just might believe you are wearing a REAL 1940's apron!

The back view:

Oh yes, and it has shoots of spring green grass growing rick-rack on the pockets to finish off this adorable apron!

All you have to do to enter, is leave a comment with your name (first name and last initial, please).

You can be entered twice, by posting a link over to this post from your blog, and then leave a second comment (please be sure to leave your blog address too)!

I will choose a winner by Friday noon (CST), and will post the winner shortly thereafter.

It's high time I had another giveway, and looking through my stash pile of finished items, I came across this lovely corduroy tote!
I'd keep it myself, but I already have more than I know what to do with...

All you have to do to enter, is leave a comment with your name (first name and last initial, please).

You can be entered twice, by posting a link over to this post from your blog, and then leave a second comment (please be sure to leave your blog address too)!

The Blue Tote Bag Giveaway

I couldn't help myself by making three more tote bags, though one is not pictured because I am keeping it(!), using the fun and easy McCalls 3136 pattern! And am offering another giveaway this month! The three to choose from are, from left to right: a chambray, a denim, or a linen (which you've seen before).

They all have pockets to hold little treasures...

And they all have little unique finishing touches...

Details:
And yes, I am only giving away one tote bag, so all you have to do to enter, is leave a comment with your name (first name and last initial, please) and say which one you'd like! You may not enter twice.

Tote Bag Giveaway!

After some set backs and interruptions, I finally finished the last tote bag. Making these were so much fun! For my pattern, I used McCall's 3136. I was looking for a pattern that would work for carrying library loans, a few items from the farmers market, or just anything that I could use rather than hanging up with no purpose.

All but one bag were made completely from my "stash pile" since it only requires 3/4 of a yard (double that if you want the same fabric for lining) From left to right, a brown embroidered twill, a white twill, and a slate blue linen:

I made them all with various sized pockets:

one to hold a card, (the library card perhaps?)

one to hold a cellphone,

and one to hold... whatever you can think of!

And they all have different embellishments too:
*Yo-yo's and vintage buttons

*Yo-yo's (two the same size, and a larger one in the middle) with vintage buttons

One single tatted motif with a vintage button
*I saw Anna's plate of yo-yo's and found them to be so adorable! And they are so fun to make too! Here is the pattern for them: How to Make a Yo-Yo.
=======================================
And so now, since I don't possibly need three bags, I have decided to give one of them away. The scoop is though, all you have to do to enter, is leave a comment with your name (first name and last initial, please) and say which one you'd like!
You can be entered twice, by posting a link over to this post from your blog, and then leave a second comment (please leave your blog address too)!
I will choose a winner Monday morning, and will post the winner shortly thereafter.

Apron Giveaway

Is is that time of year where our western sky seems to be at its most vivid blue color. White clouds are scattered across the blue sky, while down below the gardens finish producing the year's harvest (in our case: tomatoes!) and trees begin to show their autumn colors of golden yellow, rustic orange, and copper reds.

This evening, clouds are decending from off the mountains bringing rain (we hope!) and cool weather. It is currently 56 degrees and I think we'll be anticipating a much cooler night tonight.

With all of these things, I always get in a mood for baking delightful treats in the kitchen such as my favorite homemade bread recipe, a coffee cake, or apple crisp.

Are you getting inspired? If not, perhaps this apron will help! =)

Yes, I have decided to offer one more apron for a giveaway (more will be made to sell on ebay) this year. I made the apron from a vintage late 60's apron pattern and the fabric was found at an flea market/antique store that looked sort of like a 60's to 70's fabric.

=======================
To enter: Please e-mail us your name and mailing address and you'll be automatically added into the drawing.

To find out who won: Make sure you are in by noon (MST) on Wednesday and we'll anounce the winner of the apron sometime shortly after we do a random drawing!
