PeasantCottage has been Featured!

What a delightful surprise it was for me to be online to find that my Country English Cottage apron in Peasant Cottage is featured in a treasury on etsy. Being featured has happened once or twice before, but this one I have to say is one of the sweetest collections of pretty tea things.

You still have time to boil some water and fix yourself a cup of tea before times runs out to visit the treasury here!

All good things come to an end

We will offer free Priority shipping tomorrow (limit 2 items) to conclude our last day, as A Joyful Handmaiden offering modest apparel.

Our prices are now at rock-bottom price*, unless Erin says to keep marking down.

*Meaning, the price is at or below what we paid for just the fabric and notions to make the garment.

Our last week!

Wow, it's hard to believe that it's our last week as a business! Everything is 50% off right now, and then sometime Wednesday we'll do another cut on prices, and then through Saturday, slowly lower them more until we can sell them. If some items remain, they will be given to thrift stores.

It has been quiet in the sewing room

In the past several days, the machines haven't been touched much (please don't faint, ok?). =) I guess I've been busy either helping out here at home, teaching violin, tatting, and other small things that have employed my time

I was inspired by Anna's blog though of her step-by-step directions on how to make pillow cases. (...I confess that I have been lazy these days and have only sewn when I have a pattern/guidelines to go by instead of being brave enough to draft my own.) But do take a look at these vintage-inspired pillow cases ... you just might get in the mood to pull out your fabric scraps to make some!

However in other news, I took the plunge and edited all the prices on our website for the going-out-of-business sale, and the prices will continue to be reduced until we sell everything.

Patterns for sale

After cleaning out the sewing room and pattern bins, I came across a few patterns that we looked off of for ideas's for custom-made clothing and we no longer need them, so if you do sewing your self, you may be interested in some patterns that I listed on ebay that are all 99 cents!

Oh, and in other news, I have updated our Ladies apparel section and the Nearly New section

What would you like to see @ A Joyful Handmaiden?

Well, I just got back from the PO sending out the last box that contained a custom-made order. Though sad in some ways, it is exciting in many other ways! So we are wanting to ask our customers, what would you like to see offered on the website, as far as apparel. More nightgowns or aprons? More blouses or dresses? Or would you like to see ready-made historical apparel online too?

And do you have any suggestions for links that we could add? We hope to change our links page and instead of charging rates for putting up links, we would like to add as many as possible that would be of an encouragment to women of all ages and stages of life.

We look forward to hearing from you!
