Summer's Beauty

"Fast fading violets cover'd up in leaves;
And mid-May's eldest child,
The coming musk-rose, full of dewy wine,
The murmurous haunt of flies on summer eves." ―Keats

Crown Princess Margareta
"What is one to say about June, the time of perfect young summer, the fulfillment of the promise of the earlier months, and with as yet no sign to remind one that its fresh young beauty will ever fade." ―Gertrude Jekyll

Winchester Catherdral
"My garden all is overblown with roses,
My spirit all is overblown with rhyme,
As like a drunken honeybee I waver
From house to garden and again to house
And, undetermined which delight to favor
On verse and rose alternately carouse." ―Vita Sackville-West, Sonnet

The rose bush with no name, but I know it's a hybrid. It was rescued from the dumpster about 12 years ago and a complete stranger offered it to me at my place of employment back then.
"Where you tend a rose, my lad, a thistle cannot grow." ―Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden

  Raindrops on Carding Mill
 "All twinkling with the dewdrops sheen the briar-rose falls in streamer's green." ―Scott
Carding Mill

“I read in a book once that a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but I've never been able to believe it. I don't believe a rose would be as nice if it was called a thistle or a skunk cabbage.” ― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

Teasing Georgia
"And because the breath of flowers is sweeter in the air (where it comes and goes like the warbling of music) than in the hand, therefore nothing is more fit for that delight than to know what be the flowers and plants that do best perfume the air." ―Francis Bacon

Your roses are just beautiful, and a blessing to the heart and eyes; even the poor rescued hybrid. Thanks for sharing the beauty of your yard. I can't decide which one I like best, they all are gorgeous and a gift from GOD and our LORD and SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST.

Blessings,
Carie D.

Such beautiful roses, Cheri! And lovely thoughts to accompany them -- I think Carding Mill might be my favorite (though my love for Jane Austen makes me feel I should choose Winchester Cathedral, instead :-).

Cheers,
Shannon

What beautiful sentiments about the beauty of the rose! And ah, such lovely pictures... Roses are a favourite of mine and I dream of having a wonderful, big rose garden someday and cutting fresh buds for my home each day! Now wouldn't that be delightful?
I just discovered your lovely blog, Cheri and I am pleased to be your new follower! {{smiles}}
With love and blessings,
Kelly-Anne

Carie, thankyou for your kind words. I have a few other rose bushes (11 of them to be exact!) that didn't make it in this post, but when ever I see them, I too, realize how blessed I am!

Shannon, I'm not sure if I can pick favorites among roses, but the Carding Mill is definitely well-loved. :) I'm not familiar with Winchester Cathedral in relation to Jane Austen! I confess I've never completed any of her books, so that might be my problem. :)

Kelly-Anne, thanks for introducing yourself! In the school season, my blog is pitifully silent due to being a full-time college student majoring in music (maybe your figured that much already!) so I try to make up for lost time when I'm home during the summer. Having lots of flowers to take pictures of certainly helps!
