Delicious Blue

After work, my older sister and I were finally able to visit JoAnn's. Believe it or not, I haven't been to JoAnn's for well over a month, and while I didn't quite look like I'd been released from prison, I found myself ooing and ahhing at several bolts of fabric.

I decided to pick up some corduroy yardage of a favorite color: stone blue, slate blue, medium blue; whatever you wish to call it, that caught my eye. Especially since it was 50% off. Though it could change, it will probably be made into a jacket or skirt for this winter. ::sigh:: I do so love the feel, drape, and warmth that a corduroy skirt gives!
Happily, I was able to get a few Simplicity patterns as well. They were on sale for $1 each, and I wanted to snatch them at their cheapest. After seeing some of Laura's recent baby sewing projects, #2900 was one on my list to pick up, but they were out. Hopefully they will be restocked, and not be on the out-of-print list!

HA! I raided Joanns too yesterday and got corduroy as well! I got a thick tan to make a jacket for myself, and 2 jacket patterns b/c I couldn't decide between 2810 and 3628. I just know I'm going to line it with some off white/brown toile that will just look perfect!

Have fun w/ your fabric!

(I meant to say both patterns were Simplicities as well - I figured at $1 each, both wouldn't be bad to have : )

That's a lovely shade of blue! I can't wait to see what you make with it!

That Simplicity pattern is very versatile... I have an idea for a little boy's jacket, but I just need to find a chunk of time to sit down and sew it. I hope you can get your hands on the pattern before too long!

Michelle, if I decide to use my blue corduroy for a jacket, I'll have to look up those numbers. =)

Laura, I'll look forward to seeing more projects of yours, as always!

My jacket is done! One of these days I'll get around to posting pics of it on my blog. I ended up using the basic pattern of the Threads jacket, adding a welt pocket to the right inside lining, and taking the sleeves from the Project Runway pattern...took a bit of jerry-rigging but I made it work ; ) I also used those cool historical la-mode buttons - pretty brass cameos!
