Vintage Pretties

Today I hit 4 antique stores. Do I like them? Oh yes. =) With it being Labor Day, I figured that today many booths would have fantasic sales, and happily, I was right. I came home with a white wicker rounded plant stand (very early 1900s, in near perfect condition) that I didn't take a picture of, a set of hand embroidered dishcloths and potholder and the largest having the teapot design as shown on the pot holder, not-vintage-but-vintage-looking 2 yards of old fashioned American fabric, Little Women - copyrighted at 1915, a few yards of vintage lace, and a silver butter dish.

I am a follower of your blog, but don't comment often, but today when I saw your post I had to comment :D

I have that same book, also Little Men, Jo's Boys, Jack and Jill, 8 Cousins and An Old Fashioned Girl. All with the same cover and same year. They were my DH's grandmother's and she gave them to us right before her passing 2 1/2 years ago.

Enjoy your book and the other things you found!

You found such lovely things! I went to an antique store here too and found some lovely hankies. I love vintage hankies - especially when they are hand embroidered. Glad to hear you had such a wonderful time and found such wonderful things! :)

Oooh, you found some great items! I love that embroidered teapot! Can't wait to see what you use the lace on. ;-)

Is it just me, or is there a glaring typo on that Americana fabric? Does it say "Soda Fountian"? :-P

I so enjoy your blog, and pop in here often.

First, I have to tell you, I bought one of your aprons last year, and though I also have a William-Sonoma, I wear the one you made more often, as it is so much prettier, and has really held up wonderfully after all the washing. I will probably be buying another one soon.

I have a question. Do you make aprons for little girls? We are going to China in November to pick up our little girl. I would love for her to have a pretty little apron. And I cannot wait to bond in the kitchen. :) If you don;t, that's okay, but I thought I would ask, as I think you do a beautiful job.

Hi Amy,

Thanks for dropping by and saying hello! I always enjoy "meeting" blog readers. =)

Emily,

Do you do hand embroidery yourself? I learned a few years back, and should try my hand at some once again.

Laura,

For some reason I had to think of you when I made this post; knowing that you like antique too. =)

Haha, the fabric? Oh yeah! It also has some other lettering, a couple recipes (Apple Pie and blueberry something...) on it too. =)

Sarah,

Thankyou. =) Sometimes I find some fun treasures, and other times there's nothing but junk.

Madeline,

I feel honored/flattered that you like one of my aprons so much! I'm always out for suggestions and fabric-requests and so if you have any ideas for future aprons that I could make, feel free to pass them on.

Yes, I do sew girl aprons. I have a couple smock aprons for little girls (sz. 2 through 4ish) in the shop right now, and then I have worked with a pattern that looks like this: http://www.sensibility.com/pattern/images/GEAPcover.jpg that goes up to size 14
