The Lost Art of Tatting

Over the weekend I ransacked an antique store while on a historical home tour. I picked up several yards of some gorgeous Victorian/Edwardian lace, a darling 1920's/30's girls dress pattern, and was only going to spend $3. Buuut, I came across this pristine 1920's baby gown with tatting around the neckline and sleeves, and then some embroidery on the front yoke. It was severly marked down, and yes ... I grabbed it for "someday." =)

This morning I pulled out my tatting box, and laid out my bookmarks on the new baby gown, and now have them listed in my shop! Take a look to see if anything catches your fancy!

That is so beautiful! I firmly believe in setting things away in the spirit of optimism.

Otherwise, one would be scrambling around and falling into debt trying to get all the things one needs when a particular situation does arise, no?

;P

How exciting to come across that fabulous baby gown! That is really something special! I found a baby dress at an antique store several years ago and shared it on my blog as well! The blog post is entitled "All Dressed Up For Tatting". I share the title only because if you would like to come over and see it you could put that title in the search option to find the blog post.
There are so many people tatting and I have so many tatting friends online in the US as well as internationally that I hesitate to call tatting a "lost art". It is actually alive and well and thriving as an art. You are welcome to come on over to my blog and check out all the tatting blog links on the right sidebar of my blog! There's a lot!
Your motif is very pretty! Nice work!
Happy Tatting! :)

What a sweet and dear wee dress! I love antique shopping but have to be careful - I want too much! :P Your tatting is lovely. I can't tat and wish I could learn.
