However, I would like a bit of your advice, does it look to dressy with the lace? All I have left to sew is the zipper in the back, and so the lace shown below was just pinned on. Does it look to much like a bridemaid's dress? (After I made it up, I realized that I wanted my bridemaid's dresses to look similar to this, should I get married someday...)

What a beautiful dress! I think it looks find with the lace. It isn't too dressy. You should post a picture when you're done of you wearing it! =)
Personally, I do like the none-lace look for myself, but that's entirely personal...the lace would be right for you, I think!

I'll post pictures as soon as I'm done altering the sleeves. They turned out great, but not roomy enough for a violinist. =)
Very, very pretty, Cheri! I like that a lot! I personally think the lace adds a finishing touch - I don't know that I would think that if I saw it without first, but looking at the "after pictures," it looks like something is just missing. :-) Hope I'm making sense! :-)

I really like it with the lace. That would be my preference, though how you decide to have it is completely up to you! Just leaving my opinion.
oh definitely with the lace! I love love love the fabric!! Where is it from, what type is it? The lace is absolutely gorgeous on it, but you decide what you want. Of course it'd work for a bridesmaid too, but it's not overly dressy, just very feminine. In Christ, Ruth Ann

Ruth Ann, I bought the fabric from JoAnn Fabrics and I think it is a polyester fabric of some kind - certainly not cotton.
And for the dress, I am always mixing and matching stuff. I used princess-seamed bodices (from some friends of ours), used this skirt pattern but lengthened it: http://simplicity.com/dv1_v4.cfm?design=3834 and then used the sleeves from this pattern: http://simplicity.com/dv1_v4.cfm?design=3829

Beautiful, Cheri! I like the lace. :) It seems to need some trim at the waist; you could possibly do ribbon or simpler lace if you think that's too dressy.
Lovely! I think it is too plain without the lace, but that is my opinion. It reminds me of the dressy dress I just finished. = )

However I may decide to add something at the waist as I already have to alter the sleeves (they comfortable for everyday wear, but not for a violinist).
Hmmmm, coming back to this, Cheri, I just had to mention that this style is almost nearly the same one Sara Deatherage is using for her bridemaid's dresses in her wedding this July! I think that's so interesting! I have to mention again how beautiful this is! Great job!
