On a search...

I've been on a search for a few new jumper patterns to wear for everyday, and from viewing some photos on a photo-blog, I came across a young woman wearing this jumper that I just really like!
Have any of you ladies seen a pattern like it?
While you're reading this, do you have any favorite jumper patterns that you have found are your favorite?

I love this jumper!! I like the top part.. AND I think the 2 inverted pleats in the skirt are so cute.

Found your blog by clicking "next blog", saying hello.

I like all your sewn things. Very lovely. Keep up the good work. I wish I could sew!

Oh, I like that one too!! And I think that those two pleats would make it easy to adapt for maternity wear too...I'm no help with a pattern though...let us know what you find!!

I love jumpers - does this one have pockets - or maybe you could add some if you find a pattern?

Oh, I've been looking for a good jumper pattern for so long! Hmph! It seems all the denim jumpers from the store just *don't* fit correctly. This one is quite lovely, so I hope someone knows of a pattern! :)

I don't know of a pattern, but from the design and bodice style it looks like a modern strapless sundress would work if you altered the sides (for the arms) a little and added straps. I am not a big fan of jumpers but this one *is* really cute!!

Two discontinued Butterick patterns, 4223 and 3892 are similar. 4223 has the skirt, but given that it's a "fast and easy" and pullover, it's probably quite loose-fitting. I've used 3892 and tucked the pattern piece before cutting the bodice to get a smooth front. This is a fitted pattern because it's designed as a dress. 3892 would also need skirt alterations to match the picture-- probably not a problem for you :)

Wow, such wonderful comments! =D Thankyou!

Shannon, I think the first one you mentioned might very well be it, as I saw the back of this jumper, and she added some ties in the back to bring in fullness. Thank a million for your help!

I love this jumper too. Going to have to look at those patterns that Shannon suggested and see if I can make one myself! It looks like it'd be flattering on many different body shapes.

Cheri, once you get this pattern designed, you need to fly out here and bring with all your wonderful inventions for me to copy off. Wouldn't it just be a blast to spend a whole week sewing together and coming up with all sorts of inventions. Ah....you've got me in the sewing mood!!

Hi Cheri!

You might try "More Jumpers" by Cindy Taylor Oates of Taylor Made Designs. It's a pattern booklet, so there are lots of cute options. I made the bib style jumper for my sister (Achaia), and she loves it! Another great thing about Cindy's patterns (she has patterns for retro aprons, skirts, bags, etc.) is that she graciously allows you to sell items made from her patterns in small quantities! So that would be a great thing for you if you like her stuff. I too have seen some similar Butterick patterns. Butterick has a jumper, dress (my Mom's favorite!), and a few skirt patterns with the inverted pleat design... very cute! I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with!

I made a purple jumper out of that pattern! I think it may have been one of the Butterick patterns mentioned previously.
