Hi Cheri,
That is a lovely apron! I love the butterflies on the fabric, and the pattern is so cute...Hmmm, the thing is: should I try to find the pattern & make it myself, or buy one from you?? Ha-ha! I guess I'll have to decide!

I do have another question for you...since you have made things to sell. Do you know how old a pattern has to be before it is able for 'public use' to make it for selling? My sisters and I would be interested to know. I didn't see an email on your profile, so I decided to ask the question here.

Thank you!!
Hope you're having a great day. :)

Good question, Ruth Ann!

It has to be "out of copyright" and one that has not been renewed, but I'm not exactly sure on the date. There is a website that some sewing ladies mentioned of ... I'll have to look it up. But I do know for sure that 1980's to present are "not safe" to use.

Cheri,
Thank you for answering my question to the best of your ability! And if you find out that website that would be great!! May I also ask how you decide what patterns that you'll use to make & sell? Also, I guess it's not against the law to sell a pattern, no matter the date (?). Well, I appreciate your response - thank you!!

Ruth Ann,

I pick out patterns to use (to sell) that I like the most. =D

And as far as actually selling a pattern on ebay or something, of any copyright, that's is fine. I have been able to find lots through ebay and etsy that are out-of-print.

Blessings!

Cheri,
Actually I meant something a little different. That was probably like "duh" when I asked how you choose the patterns that you make to sale. What I was wanting to know, was how do you decide - how do you know before you buy the pattern if it is a fine enough date (copyright wise) to be able to make to sell. I haven't bought that many patterns on e-Bay but do they tell you the copyright date when they sell them? That's more what I was meaning.

Thanks for answering all my questions...hope I'm not taking up too much of your time! This has become the "conversation board!!!!"

Well, have a great night, I have got to get to bed. (EST it is 11:31 PM - yikes!)

God bless,
Ruth Ann

I love that pattern--did you ever think about trying to turn it into a jumper?

Hi Cheri,
Dropping in one more time! :) I just wanted to let you know, that I hope it's okay that when I was setting up an etsy shop, I put your shop & name down as my referrer. :) I don't know if that'll benefit you at all, but I hope it does!! So, I'm just hoping that was okay!!

Thanks,
Ruth Ann

oops, I kinda spoke too soon. I put your shop name in again and again but it kept saying that you weren't a "valid Etsy member." Well, I know differently...but have no clue why it wouldn't work.

Ruth Ann,

I had to smile at your reply to my answer about patterns. =) As far as "safe" copyrighted patterns, I generally feel safe with patterns from 1950's/60's and before. I'm sort of tip-toeing with 70s patterns, and I definately wouldn't use 1980's to present.

Yes, often times with vintage patterns, they'll give you a copyright date if there is one, or give you an estimated guess. for instance, I am selling several vintage patterns on ebay with no copyright dates, but they are definately 1950s era.

Congrats in setting up an etsy shop! =) Do you mind if I link to it?

Rachel,

It's a favorite of mine too. I have this craze right now with 70s patterns. =) I never have thought about making a jumper from it.

Cheri,
I have NO PROBLEM with you linking to my etsy shop, but please let me get something in it first! It looks quite bare. Right now I am aggravating myself wild trying to figure out how to make a banner for it. Did you make yours? Well, I'm back to the "aggravating" job. :)

Thanks again...

Yes, I did make my banner and userpic.

Hi Cheri,
So here is my etsy shop:

www.maid2praiz.etsy.com

I suppose you can link to it anytime you want to. :) I have yet to make something...but my sisters made some things and I listed them. And I'm learning all the ropes and all of it. So far it looks pretty good. The biggest stimuli will be when something actually gets sold!!

Your banner & pic are really nice & pretty! I like them. You did a great job! :)

Okay...oh yes, and I added you as a "favorite" in my shop!!! :)

Thanks again for everything...
