Busy, Busy!

Despite my lack of appearance on the blog, I have been sewing. I figured you all wouldn't want updates for every and every item that I add to my etsy shop, and so while I added an apron and 3 peasant shirts I decided to remain silent. =) Other than an occasional apron or two to be added, I will probably be done sewing for the shop for awhile.

Right now I am working on my sundress. I made a muslin (ie, a test bodice), made some alterations to it, and have cut into my fabric. Just yesterday I picked up the needed red essentials for it and this morning I have been trying to figure out how to draft the skirt. I'm using several patterns as a "base" and then will go from there. Hopefully by this evening it will be completed, that is, provided I have no interruptions and decide to not watch Jane Eyre for the 3rd or 4th time this week. (I just love Jane's simple gowns! I'm guessing the era is 1850's or thereabouts?)

I can hardly wait to get back into Regency sewing. I miss doing some historically inspired clothing and have some fun ideas up my sleeve that I'd like to try before I go back to MI. Try to imagine no sewing machine for 3 months and then you'll understand why I'm in the sewing room quite frequently these days! =)

Um, do you live in MI? Because I do!

Wow, you've accomplished a lot!! And created some lovely things. I too am in a regency mood and am about to go start one in just a few minutes, for my own sadly neglected Etsy shop. :( Any time at all without a sewing machine would be so stressful for me, but I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing time during your stay in Michigan!

Sounds like your trip to MI is a go, then? By all means, get your sewing fix now! :-) My dad and I have also been watching "Jane Eyre" this week, too -- the miniseries from 2006 that I missed seeing when it aired on PBS because he was in the hospital. I can't believe it's taken me two years to rent it!

Victoria,

No, I currently don't live in MI. I will be in the state for a few months how ever this fall visiting my grandmother and studying violin nearby.

Sarah,

Thankyou. =) It is always fun to see how much you can get done in a week; or a day for that matter, as I made the peasant shirts in one day. =)

LOL, it is funny how sewing can sometimes de-stress a person. I find that it sometimes relaxes me when I'm under stress and so I just enjoy shutting myself up in the sewing room, hearing the hum of the sewing machine and being productive at the same time. =)

Laura,

Yes, I am going to MI, Lord willing. And I have done so much sewing lately that I'll be ready for a long break away from it! =)

How do you like the new Jane Eyre? I've seen two other versions, and this one is by far my favorite.
